Troubleshooting
The Planckie Elements group is missing from the builder
The group appears in the element library only when the plugin loads inside YOOtheme Pro. Check, in this order:
- YOOtheme Pro 5 is active. Planckie Elements requires YOOtheme Pro 5 or later and stays inactive next to YOOtheme Pro 4 or a different theme.
- On Joomla, the plugin is enabled. Joomla installs new plugins disabled. Go to System → Plugins, search for Planckie Elements and enable it.
- On WordPress, the plugin is activated. Uploading a plugin does not activate it.
- PHP is 8.0 or later. Your CMS reports the PHP version on its system information screen.
- The elements are not switched off. Open Settings → Planckie Elements in the Customizer and check the switches.
One element is missing, but pages using it still work
That element is switched off in Settings → Planckie Elements. Hiding an element removes it from the library while keeping existing pages intact, which is exactly what you are seeing. Switch it back on and it returns to the library.
An element renders nothing on the page
Elements that cannot produce anything meaningful render nothing at all, rather than an empty box. This is by design and almost always means a required piece of content is missing — a 360° Image Viewer without a panorama image, or a list element such as Opening Hours with no items added.
Open the element in the builder and fill in the fields marked as required on its documentation page.
Styling looks wrong or outdated after an update
Clear the caches, from the closest to the browser outwards:
- Your browser, with a hard reload.
- Optimization or caching plugins that combine CSS and JavaScript.
- Your CMS cache — WordPress caching plugins, or System → Clear Cache on Joomla.
- Your CDN or hosting-level cache.
Each of our asset files carries a version derived from its own modification time, so a correctly configured cache picks up the new file by itself. A cache that ignores the version parameter needs to be cleared manually.
Animations do not play
Elements respect the reduced-motion setting of the operating system. When Reduce motion is enabled in your system accessibility settings, animated elements present their content without the movement and stay fully usable. Turn the system setting off to see the animation.
Custom CSS does not apply
YOOtheme Pro scopes Custom CSS added to an element to that element. Write your rules against the pe- classes listed on the element's documentation page, and use the CSS custom properties the element exposes where one exists — they are applied where the element expects them, so they survive updates better than overriding rules do.
Class names that are not documented are internal and may change between versions.
The style library shows no styles at all
Not even the styles that come with YOOtheme Pro. The library remembers its filter, and a filter set to a Planckie style matches nothing once Planckie Styles is deactivated. The filter field can even look empty, because the style it points to is no longer on the list, yet it still filters.
Reset the filters in the style library and every installed style appears again.
"Unable to load style" after deactivating Planckie Styles
The site still uses a style from the plugin, which is no longer loaded. Activate Planckie Styles again, or pick a different style in the Customizer and save.
The site breaks after installing
A fatal error right after installation usually means PHP is older than 8.0. Remove the plugin through your CMS or by deleting its folder, upgrade PHP, and install again.
If the site breaks at a different moment, deactivate Planckie Elements and confirm that the problem disappears before reporting it — that single check saves the most time on both sides.
Upload Layout does not take the layout pack
Upload Layout takes a JSON file, not the ZIP. Unpack the ZIP first, then upload planckie-<pack>-all-layouts-v<version>.json in Builder → Layout Library → My Layouts → Upload Layout. It adds every page of the pack and its footer at once; the single-layouts folder has each one as its own file, if you only need some of them.
The other JSON file, planckie-<pack>-theme-settings-v<version>.json, is not a layout. It goes to Settings → Advanced → Theme Settings → Import in the Customizer, as the pack's README.txt describes.
Imported pages look different from the demo
Three things make the difference, and all of them are expected:
- The style. The demo uses the Planckie style named in
README.txt. Install the free Planckie Styles plugin, then either import the pack's theme settings, which select the style, or pick it yourself in Style in the Customizer. The pages work with any style, so with another one they simply look different. - The photos. They are not in the download. Every photo is a grey placeholder with its size on it.
README.txtlinks to each demo photo on Pexels, where it is free to download; crop it to the size on the placeholder, upload it to your media library and replace the placeholder in the builder. - The icons. The pack's own icons come as SVG files in the
iconsfolder of the ZIP, with a grey copy in the pages. Upload the files to your media library and select them in the Image element, keeping Make SVG stylable with CSS on, so the icon takes the style's colour.
"Unable to load style" right after importing the theme settings
The theme settings select a Planckie style, which needs the Planckie Styles plugin. Install and activate it, and the style loads.
The menu disappeared after importing the theme settings
Importing theme settings replaces all of them. On WordPress this includes which menu sits in the navbar: your menu still exists, it is just no longer assigned. Assign it again in Appearance → Menus → Manage Locations → Navbar. Set your logo, cookie consent and custom scripts again as well.
To keep your own settings, export them first in the same place, or skip the theme settings and upload only the pages.
Links between the pages lead nowhere
The pages of a pack link to each other by fixed addresses, such as /services or /contact. README.txt lists them. Give your pages the same addresses, or change the links in the builder.
The footer is missing
The footer comes with the pack's theme settings. If you uploaded only the pages, open Layout → Footer in the Customizer and add <Pack> – Footer from My Layouts.
A map shows a consent notice instead of the map
The map loads its tiles from OpenStreetMap. When cookie consent is enabled in YOOtheme Pro, the map waits until the visitor agrees, which is how it should work.
Reporting a problem
Include:
- the product and its version: Planckie Elements shows it in Settings → Planckie Elements in the Customizer, a layout pack in the name of its files (
-v<version>), - your CMS and YOOtheme Pro versions, and your PHP version,
- the element, style or layout page involved, and the settings you used,
- what you expected and what happened instead,
- a link to a page where it is visible, when you can share one.
